Carpet Edging
We offer two main carpet edging services – whipping and binding. Below, you can find out more about each of these methods and the products we can supply to create bespoke rugs and runners, shaped or cut to plan. Our expert team will happily advise on the best finish based on your requirements and preferences.
Carpet Whipping
Carpet whipping involves machining the edge of a carpet to create a neat and practical border. This prevents fraying and helps to increase the lifetime of your rug. We use either 100% or 80/20 wool yarn and will select a matching or complementary colour from our extensive range of whipping yarns.
Whipped carpets are well suited to stair runners, small mats or room sized rugs, as well as intricate shapes for cars, boats and motorhomes.
Tape Binding
Binding is the process of machine sewing tape to the edge of a carpet or natural floor covering to give a neat, bordered finish. Tapes can be made from cotton, linen, leather and suede and results in a stunning finish to rugs and staircases. We hold a range of stock tapes and can also supply a wide variety of colours, styles and textures – from Herringbone or basketweave, to stripes or neon. Customers are also welcome to supply their own edgings for us to machine bind.
